Dear Clay Scientists,
We hope this message finds you in good health in these uncertain times. The organization committee of the 17th ICC, together with the AIPEA Council, have agreed to postpone the scheduled conference from July 2021 to July 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis and the resultant force majeure situation. We do hope to accomplish a more face-to-face meeting at the İstanbul 2022 conference and seek to achieve the most successful and memorable outcomes for clay sciences. For those that still may be limited by physical factors, we will do our best to include hybrid opportunities. The same excellent ICC field trips, workshops, and tours will be moved forward along with 33 updated thematic sessions. All new ICC deadlines are posted on the meeting website icc.aipea.org. The ICC organizers hope that participants will be able visit Istanbul in 2022 to explore one of the most fascinating cities in human history. This will certainly be an opportunity of a lifetime for many from both scientific and cultural perspectives. We believe that this postponement will add new horizons in science and culture to our experience via professional and personal exchanges in the historical city of İstanbul.
We are eager to host all of our colleagues and students and their families from all over the world to be able to show our hospitality in a safe environment.
Most sincerely,
Selahattin Kadir,
Conference General Chair
